I'm looking to have my 35 Ford windshield frame chromed. Any idea of the cost and who to take it to? Has anyone used Ogden Chrome in Utah?

ChromeplaterJosh is your man. He is not in Jersey, but he is well worth a buck extra to ship to Indiana. Exellent work, stuff is done on time and right on the estimate. Plus, you get a sweet tasty Alliance Member discount.

Ogden Chrome has done the best work in this area for over 50 years.

Cost $200-$300 depending on plater and condition.Problem with the original frames is its tough to neutralize the acid that gets inside.Wash it good when you get it back.Very often they start rusting from the inside out.I opted for a new repro and it is perfect and fits perfect.

Desert Duece, Did you buy a 35 stock chrome windshield? Who did you buy it from and cost?

    Thanks

Those 30's windshield frames are one of the very few pieces that I recommend buying new. They rust out from the inside, and after 70-80 years, even a well kept car has windshield frame rot issues before restoration; often compounded when trying to restore them.

The high build acid copper plating is highly acidic and will actually eat the insides because the plating won't go in there. Imagine the mess when a plater tries to help fix the rot issues with a lot of copper plating. Even better, the junk going on inside the frame will spew into the solutions during plating and cause speckles in the copper and nickel plating, and increase filter usage.

Basically, they don't lend themselves to replating very well. Make one out of solid steel, aluminum, or brass, and problem solved. Get a new one, and it will last a long time with good plating just as the originals did. I'd buy a new one, but the original can be restored for more cost.
