Trying to understand my auto light 4100 carb. The car was running smoothly the other day until I sprayed gumout down into the bowels. Now I get a rough idle when Iam at a light but as soon as I start moving everything is smooth.Even if there is a small particle lodged somewhere why woulnt I experience when going about 35 mph. Everything becomes smooth again. I have checked the plugs and wires didnt touch the two idle mixture screws either. Would this have something to do with the secondary plates as opposed to the primary. Thanks Larry

Sounds like you may have dislodged a small particle which is now stuck in the idle circuit.

Try opening the idle mixture control screws about two turns and then manually closing the choke butterfly until you kill the engine.

It may pull the particle on through in which case you will have learned NOT to spray gumout into a carb again. Or it may not pull it through in which case you get to remove and rebuild the carburetor.

You can try several times. Maybe you will get lucky.

    Jon.
