Need advice from 37-38 Ford Experts

I have a 38 Ford sedan with all front sheet metal from a 37. Everything is mocked in place except the hood. I am trying to fit the hood without any success. I have new repo 37 hinges which hold the hood about a quarter inch high in the rear at the cowl. I have broken 38 hinges which appear to be much different from the 37 hinges but because they are so bent up I can't install them. My question is which hinges should be used with a 38 cowl and a 37 hood, the ones for the hood or the ones for the cowl?
