My 1951 Mercury has been converted from 6 volt to 12 volt. How many of the components of the overdrive system have to be replaced with 12 volt units? I know the solenoid is OK because I have it hardwired to a switch and it works fine. However, I would like to get it back to an automatic operation as it was originally.
Lots of guys run as-is with no changes. My buddy's got about 20 years of 12 volt running on his 6 volt OD system.
