I bought my car partially done, and it has a curved 2x4 cut to fit under the roof and screwed to the corner clamps and screwed down through plate above windshield they welded the visor on reinforce everything including the way henry built it I ramed a lot of self tapping screws in with a 3/8 air wrench and even some drywall screws through plate above windshield and spent hundreds of hours blending sheet metal to straight??
dammit where were you 2 months ago! thats a hell of a deal..some one ought to snap that sucker up..! if that dam thing is still around and bothering you in 2 weeks you Pm me..K?
That's not what I said, I said it was split and welded giving it a peak rather than a compound curve at the top corners, Take a look at an aftermarket one from Howells vrs a stock one and you'll see what I'm talking about, however I thought we were talking about using a 30/31 visor after looking at the pics gbones32 posted. As far as a 28/29 I don't know.
My visor is welded on. I used a 84 astro van roof turned backwards. I tied the roof ridges into the visor with 6" long flat steel. This gave the visor strength and made the roof flow. Unlike yours I had to make a filler piece that went above the windshield and was welded to the bottom of the visor.
Looks good motoandy I love the ribs running out to the edge of the visor. The visor does seem a bit flimsy.
first , there is a major difference between '28/'29 & '30/'31 visors . '28/'29 are a seperate piece that does not come up even with the top . the '30/'31 is flush with the top & is like part of the body . hope that helps .......... steve
personally i like a 28-29's to look like a 28-29's..and the 30-31's to look like 30-31's..I like the crown moulding on the 28-9's and the visor to have the covering on them for the 28-9's..personal preference maybe but it keeps with the design. even if you go with the filled roof idea..it has a certain charicter to it. just my .002 cents for what its worth in this days market
