I need opinions. My Dynaflow (or Dynaslow) transmission*****ped out on me, I was thinking of replacing it with a Chevy 400 or 700(for those long trips). I found a adapter kit that would bolt my nailhead to the new*******, but, but, I believe I'll have to replace my rear-end, along w/ that goes my drive-shaft(being enclosed). Also I think I might have to cut my floor, and raise it to make room for the trans. Any advice and comments are welcomed..Should I just rebuild it and save me time and money?
Dynaflows do have an enclosed driveline. It is possible to convert the buick rearend to a regular driveline but it does invlolve a lot of fabrication. I think that a th350 will fit without cutting the driveline. If you do put a diffrent driveline you will have a lot of fabrication also. A dynaflow is an expensive******* to rebuild especialy if you need anything other than steels and seals. But I know that******* adapter is as much as the parts and you still need the******* and rearend. -Nick
Making the adaptor to use the original rear is'nt as tuff to do as it seems. However, you've got to use a 4-link or ladder bars to reposition the rear and the expense of a new driveshaft made to length. All adds up ! Ask me about it sometime ! Pappy
They sell an adapter for my 264 Nailhead to fit a chevy trans. $495, I have a trans. already and the rear-end I was going to use one out of a 55 Chevy, I had laying around!
