i have a 67 ford country sedan wagon and it is layed down with out bags and if i hit bumps or hve p***angers my driveshaft hits where do i start so i can make clearance
Depends on how you lowered it and how low it is. If you did not use bags you may want to put small bags in the back to raise it when you are driving. It may be something as simple as changing your pinion angle. I don't think you should get cut happy yet.
Its hard to say ,is the front lower than the back or vise versa?I'd almost guess its hitting towards the rear of the shaft.I would jack it up and look, you should be able to see where the contact is.Then you will know where to start clearencing.Good luck...
I reckon that if you want to continue runnin low and want to go even lower you are gonna have to cut it. Get underneath and take a look around the drive shaft tunnel, as S/Ride has said you will be able to see where it is hitting,(it will be cleaner and shiny),then you will have to cut that piece out,get back in the car and load it up with your buddies, you will then be able to see how much more you will have to cut out(cos you will) then it's just a case of re-fabbing a new trans tunnel to cover the hole you just cut out. most times the drive shaft hump in the floor is lower then the rear seat base. Look the see where it is hitting and raise it 1 1/2 inches tapering down to nothing at the tail shaft.
First .... CHANGE THE SHOCKS !! If you are running the stock length shocks ...after lowering you have used up just about ALL of the ( "up" or " compression") travel in the shocks.....if you hit a bump they will HIT the end of thier travel...... measure the mounting points with the car on the ground and get a shock that is HALFWAY in it's travel at that measurment.... This may not be your "clunking" problem ...but ... if 'ya don't get a shorter shock it's GONNA' BE ..... Jersey Skip
