I spent an hour and a half at Napa trying to get what I thought would be a simple hose. O'Reillys didn't have a clue either. I ordered a disc brake kit for the front of my 1959 Chevy Apache and it uses C10 calipers. It came with brake hoses that use have a female (inverted) 3/8's fitting and my truck has a female (inverted) 7/16ths. They are about 15" long. So the caliper side is correct with a banjo fitting, it's the 3/8" fitting that isn't right and I cannot find a car or truck that has a banjo on one side and inverted 7/16th on the other. I'm sure the part exists, I just can't seem to figure out what vehicle may have had it. Has anyone run into this problem and what brake hoses worked? What manufacturers used 7/16 more than 3/8? I know I can have some custom made, but it would be nice to be able to walk into an auto parts store and pick them up. I also know I can replum the hard lines and their junctions with 3/16ths or run some adapters. I don't want to run an adapter with the banjo block junction side or the line side if I can avoid it... Thanks!!!
they sell adaptors in br*** for that they ussually are in the bins under the counter at napa s other than that your looking at remaking the pipe end of the line , or having a custom braided hose made
Yeah, I'm thinking the Weatherhead box is gonna be your best freind on this one... Chances are the mfrs were all done with the 7/16 stuff before the banjos came on the scene.
Thanks for all the replies. I ended up spending some time on Dormans website and found some good leads on what I was looking for. Seems like late model Cadillacs use 7/16-24 inverted flare fittings.
napa has a good chart in one of their old brake parts book.........lists all the hose end sizes on each end for easy recognition.......just did that for a 31 ford with weird hose ends
