I need some advice or guidance on a carb replacement. I have a 49 Lincoln with it's original 337 Flathead and as any of you that have one of these engines know....performance parts are hard to find and expensive when you do. It does run, but barely. I think it has a stuck valve and I'll be working on freeing it up this weekend. I tried all kinds of ointments and oils, etc... so I'll proxy end up removing the head. I verified this by replacing all the spark plugs and one of them was just oily and not burned like the rest....no compression either. Anyway to the question: It is currently sporting a 2bbl Chevy carb turned around backwards with the throttle linkage setup to push instead of pull. I still have the original side draft carb and it looks to be in good shape, but definitely needs to be rebuilt. Should I go to the trouble and cost of rebuilding it or is there a better carb (or carb and intake) setup that I should consider while I'm at it. Thanks for any feedback. Mike Denison, Tx
