Hot Rods Need coupe answer

    Can I install a new fuel tank in 1940 ford coupe with body on the frame ???

    Yep==done quite a few--a bit tough but can be done.

    I changed out a original 1940 Ford Coupe tank - set years with crudded up old gas and flakes. Got the original tank out OK - but tight. Bought new repo - Drake stock metal tank - had to take a 6 inch 50 grit grinder to the sides and trim slightly - then took a thin body shop bumping s**** to slide it past the frame rail. Repo fit little tighter than the original.

    What he said--orig will come out easier than new one will go in-follow his advise-repo tanks need a little adjustment as he mentioned-both Drake and Tanks
