I've have had a project in mind for quite a while. I'd like to build a v-8 60/offenhauser style midget replica, from the 40/50's era. I don't know any one who has one that I can measure, to get all the dimensions I need. I recall there were several pages in the Sprint Car post that had copied "do it your self" plans from that era---but they were from sprint car articles. Need the same thing, only from a midget project. Next best would be some one in the NW Indiana area that has one, any condition as long as it's together, that would be kind enough to let me measure it up. BILL RINALDI
http://www.rodauthority.com/features/kurtis-kraft-project-everything-old-is-new-again/ Might be some good info for you.
STU---Once again you come up with obscure but accurate info. Only downside is the article is from 2012 and I, repeat, I can't find a follow up. BILL
Once again Stu----How the Hell do you DO that? What size is the front and rear wheels (and widths). Where do you get them? What looks similar? BILL
Bill: If you got your panties bunched up and want a period correct midget race car, http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1940s-kurtis-kit-midget-race-car-halibrand.984445/ check this out. It may already be sold, but for the money, I doubt you could get all the pieces for less money than he's asking. May already be sold, but look around.
You might also check this thread. Plenty of antique midget knowledge there. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/vintage-cageless-midget-picture-thread.337192/
STU------I no longer have an issue with panty bundling -----Depends don't bundle (they do wrinkle--- A LOT---(especially when you wring them out too much) You really gave me the info I needed to make decisions on the stuff I've accumulated. Still need info on proper wheel size and what is available. Speedwrench, thats a GREAT post you put me onto, THANKS a bunch!! BILL RINALDI
Bill: Usually, they used like 12" (halibrand on some) wheels. Maybe Charliechops here on the HAMB would know about locating a set. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-N-O-S-...GET-/291585680253?hash=item43e3dc637d&vxp=mtr
Bill: This would be a sweet little engine to put in an old midget. http://www.ebay.com/itm/FLATHEAD-FO...0HP-/252121355867?hash=item3ab39a965b&vxp=mtr Stick with me and I'll help you spend the kid's inheritance.
