Good afternoon guys, we have been doing repairs for a little over 4 years, and have not had a problem with a customer until recently. We worked on a 99 Grand Am with a 2.4, we installed a timing set, and 2 weeks later she locked it up (the customer). She claims we installed a seal improperly causing the oil to run out. Upon inspection we were not able to find any oil leaks in that seal area, but did find the rear main seal to be leaking some. My insurance company is covering the claim, but wants us to modify our disclaimer. Sooooo, what I am after is examples of other disclaimers other shops are using. Thanks for any help!

All inspections are visual. There may be unseen, underlying issues for which we are not responsible.

I'd get another insurance company with some Balls, not just pay for unrelated repairs to shut someone up. If they keep that up, you'll have people lined up down the street for oil changes so they can claim you left the drain plug loose.

Our warranty is limited to the actual work performed, anything else that fails upon leaving the shop falls under Murphy's Law, failures that can be traced back to neglect or abuse by the owner comes under the "dumb*** clause" for which no res***ution is made, (although we may just ***** slap you on general principals"

    Have a nice day...

Hard to beat what Espo said.

I also like: "We didn't build it, we didn't buy it, and we didn't break it"
