I recently bought a 36 Willys P U from the estate of Mike Naill, who had a small auto museum in El Dorado Ks. Unfortunately Mike's son who might have some info on the truck also passed recently. The title indicates that it was in the museum since 2005. It looks like it could have some drag racing background. It would be great to find the builder or previous owner to get history and build info. These early Willys trucks are rare so somebody must remember it. Thanks.
I went to Eldorado to see Mike and Donna and was told they had moved to Florida. I didn't know he had passed. I didn't know he had this Willys pickup. He had a really nice metallic blue one and a coupe last time I was with him. B Scott is on here and lives in Eldorado. He may know something about it.
Don't know about them moving to Fl(I actually live there)but Mike passed a couple of years ago and his son also Mike just passed a couple of weeks ago. I saw pics of the blue Willys P U and it was nice. The yellow 33 coupe was sold a while back and was a thread on here. Maybe B Scott will chime in. Thanks.
What paint color(s) are under the black primer? Any signs of lettering under the current finish? Original (old build) frame or new aftermarket?
Can't tell what's under the black primer but it has an original beefed up frame w/straight axle front and 9" rear & Moser axles. Thanks
Yes I would think B Scott would know who the car belonged to. He has been into this for years and seems to remember a lot of history
If this pick up is anything like the yellow coupe they had it might not have any racing history. The coupe was made up as an old race car but I knew the history on it, never more then a street rod.
Mike Naill was my grandfather. Amazing man. Collector of many things. Unfortunately he had so many cars he never really did get around to the story of each and every vehicle. Scott is my father, and I’ll try to do you the favor of asking him if he happens to know any history on the vehicle. That is, if this post is still being monitored.
Yes it was! American Pickers with Mike and Donna. There is also a YouTube version that shows special behind the scenes footage.
Unfortunately Mike had passed and Donna has since then moved to Arizona since her eldest (Michael) also passed. She now stays near her last son / my parents. I’ll try to see if she knows anything about the vehicle.
