Need Help! Buick Dynaflow trans question.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by woodbox, Sep 8, 2011.

  1. I am running a 1963 aluminium Buick Dynaflow 2 speed trans behind my 215cu in Buick engine. It has been fully rebuilt. My question is regarding the second lever beside the shift linkage. Is this just a kickdown lever or is it a TV linkage requiring a variable signal from the carb?
Any constructive help you can offer would be appreciated.

Not sure about your Year, but on my '56 dynaflow there was a kickdown up by the throttle linkage above & behind the head on the drivers side.. Is that what your talking about?

on our 57 special there is a control rod that gos down to transmision high accumulator. In our 1957 buick service manual page 5-33 dynaflow manual control mechanism and linkage adjustments you will find a description. I f you go to the team buick site I believe you can look up under referances.

Did you rebild the stock transmission that came behind the 215? If so this is a 2 speed trans with a switch pitch converter, not a typical dynaflow as I remember. I would check with someone who knows these trannys as I believe they were only installed behind the 215 v-8's.
