Hi, I am going to be on my Honeymoon in the US through August/September and wanted some advice about what shows are worth seeing. I am more into Traditional Rods than Streetrods and also love muscle cars, especially MOPAR (I have a 70 Dodge Challenger). Let me know what show is called, what cars and past numbers and where it is if you can. Thankyou! Dean
Congrats on getting married. There's always The Woodward Dream Cruise -- August 16th this year. I'll bet that HRLC and some of the GMBs would love to show you around the Detroit area. http://www.woodwarddreamcruise.com/
If you're going to be around Joplin, MO, then check out the HAMB drags August 23. This is my can not miss every year.
August 16 Marion County International Dragway, LaRue, Ohio Funny Car Nationals 20+ nostalgia Funny Cars. Check out the site and schedule for the Great Lakes Funny Cars. www.greatlakesnostalgiafunnycarcircuit.com
I know you said you like trad. rods, but you wont see as many or as diverse a group of street rods as you'll see at the street rod nationals in Louisville Ky. There are usually many many trad. rods. It happens early august.
HAMB drags is a definate, Bonneville may be cause for divorce especially the long trip between the two, but she knows how important it is too me so who knows. Hotrodarama sound cool as do the other suggestions. I dont mind travelling around just dont want to zigzag the country too much. Also If I can pick up a '55 post (got the money aside and the support of the misses) may be a test on an unfamiliar ride. Thanks all, keep em coming
dude... step away from the bottle august is speedweek and the drags, july does have the MSRA back to the 50's event in minnesota... 1000's of cars there
A few of you guys shouldn't post dates when you've been drinking..... the poor dude is probably so confused. Speed Week starts on Sunday Aug 17th with tech, spend a few days on the salt then cruz to the HAMB Drags in Joplin, MO on Saturday Aug 23rd. You will want to get there on Friday though for the parking lots festivities. Anything else you might do during this time is just icing on the cake BUT these two events are not to be missed period. If you make it to the Detroit area during your visit you and the misses are more then welcome to stay here at the house. I have plenty of room.
If you're in LA..... NHRA Twilight cruise - NHRA Museum in Pomona (usually 1st Wed of month) Donut Derelicts in Huntington Beach Sat morning - also anti donuts around the corner www.toppingevents.com www.pomonaswapmeet.com
