I have an 8 inch out of a mid 60ish Ford. I used to have a page bookmarked but all the info is gone. I guess they took down that page.

    Tag number WCL-H2
    3.00 3KE 801

I know what ratio it is, but I need a year so I can get axle bearings, pinion seals etc.

    Thanks

I just wanted to add this, do not always go by the tag. I've had it before where someone prior to me working on a certain axle they must have swapped center sections or something and the tag info was wrong. I always suggest pulling the axles and getting the numbers from the bearings or at the very least a measurment. Same goes with the seals.

    To add to this ...

A lot of rodders will find the RATIO rear end they want in a junk yard and not have the time or the $$$ to get that day. They then switch the tags ... SOOOO ... no one else wants it. :D

Then life gets in the way and the rear end lays there until you come along. If the rear end tag and the door info tag for the rear end ratio match ... then you are fairly safe figuring the rear end is as it came from the factory

I guess I need to count the teeth to be sure, but it looks like it has never been apart. It's nothing fancy, so I doubt anyone would go to that much trouble for a dog leg rearend.

If it's a 2.75 ratio, and not a Track Lock, it will say 2.75. But the 2 might have gotten messed up so there's only a dot left....

Dont see that code listed here.

What info are you seeking from a Hollander?

Trying to figure out what backing plates/brakes will interchange with the 57-59 ford axle. I think??? Axle I have for parts is a 60-64 Galaxie. I haven't had time to tear it all apart to see if the bearings are the same size. I'm out of town for a couple weeks but I took a few measurements.

Unfortunately Hollander does not go down as far as backing plates. You also need to be aware of axle offset which is 2-3/8". While I have not tried, been led to believe up to 66 Ford backing plates/brakes will work, so you should be good to go.
