So I have a repo 32 crossmember and speedway U bolt kit, problem is the U bolts are just a little bit too narrow to slide over the crossmember. What would be a good fix for this? Im thinking either hammering the crossmember in 1/16" or filing grooves for them to fit. The crossmember is 1/8 thick. There is about 1/16" gap from spring to side of crossmember to try and hammer it in, but this might be impossible it's pretty thick. Any help?

The U-bolts from Speedway are not sized correctly. You might try bending them just enough to slip them over your cross member and still get the plate on the bottom. If you ordered stock Model A u-bolts from Macs you wouldn't have this problem. Grinding on the cross member doesn't seem like a good idea nor should it be necessary.

Thats an easy fix!----Take a s**** piece of pipe that is the OUTSIDE diameter of holes in crossmember---Heat up the curved top of ubolt & with vise grips grab the straight part of ubolt, place over pipe & work out the desired radius with a large hammer!------Now that was easy, huh?------Don
