    Hey People,

I'm trying to identified a some wheel trims I saw in Kustoms Illustrated's coverage of the KKOA Sled Scene East (issue 8). They showed a close up of a dimpled wheel trim ring on a 56 chevy that were apparently original 50's aftermarket accessories. These things have tons & tons of dimples in them and are super kool!!

Naturally I'm trying to find out who made them and approximately when so I can try and track down a pair or set.

    Cheers

  2. I guess "original 50's dudes" is better than calling me an old **** or grey beard. I do remember the dimpled beauty rings but they weren't any cooler than the pokadot whitewalls. it was just a gimmick that didn't fly "back in the day" but if you found a set it would probably be cool now, as anything old is cool now (not including me, once a geek always a geek! now a geezer geek hahaha!)

I don't remember those trim rings at all. They must have been a real flash in the pan. Geezer geek huh. That would make me a Geezer Hood! It was only a short time in juvenile hall....gimmie a break!

Cheers No Name, cool response! hahaha

Interesting that they didn't fly back in the day though!

Do you remeber roughly when they were about and if they were an east or west coast thing?

  5. Had to be east coast we were way to cool in California (that should start some ****.) actually it was something for the old folks (25+ being old) it just never flew. My uncle bought some for my aunts 55 pontiac convertible. never saw another
I can't seem to pull down a date. but it was after he switched from wide to skinny white walls (58-62 maybe)

For those of you who are wondering what the hell Gotzy is talking about.....

I'd love to find out more about them myself just for curiosities sake.

    Good luck Gotzy!

I saw a set very similar to the ones Kustom Klown has pictured. They were dimpled like that, but they were actually part of a Portawall. They snapped on like trim rings and they had a portawall attatched to them so they could be installed without breaking the bead of the tire. Perhaps these trim rings are actually porta-wall retainers with the rubber part missing? I know where a set is sitting but I don't know how to get at them.
