one thing about the old dodge flathead 6, they did not change much over the years.

The 1949 dodge in my avatar has a 1937 engine. I have a couple 1952 engines for parts.
The newer distributor would drop right in and work, shaft length and mounting is the same.
The difference between the newer 52 and the older 37 distributors that I saw, the vacuum advance is different and the housing is a little bigger on the newer and takes a larger cap.

I understand if you want period correct you want exact dizzy, but if you want it to run, a newer dizzy may be easier to find and less problematic.
The 37 has a ball bearing, the points plate rotates on. I will probably switch over to the newer dizzy with a better vacuum advance.
My 1937 dizzy is installed in the truck and not here, and do not have the numbers.
Here is the numbers off of the 1952, possibly if you can find it, they will have option for older dizzy also? also a couple photo of it. shaft is 5 1/4" long.

Last photo is of the vacuum advance that I do not like on the 37. The dizzy housing is machined for the bearing to fit. After cleaning it up and getting it to rotate freely, no longer fits tightly in the case.
All ***embled and if you turn dizzy upside down, is only the vacuum advance arm attached to breaker plate that keeps it from falling out. It may be just fine, dunno yet.

I looked in (3) Hollander books that cover the years 1928-1965 and an Auto-lite catalog that covers 1938-1951 and didn't find any distributor numbers like what you posted. The Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth & DeSoto distributor model numbers all start with the letter "I". Sorry, but I guess I can't help.

Just ran the part number from the dist I have, Haggens says is for a 1955 230 ci motor.
I know that it came out of a rebuilt 1952 plymouth 218 block.
Sheesh they are not cheap, $295 rebuilt using your core, add another $100 for their core.
Haggens is a great shop, remember going in there with my uncle 30 years ago, they were a old shop then. But could call them and get info you need.
