working out a few kinks on a 90's built 40 Ford truck. I have bad blinkers and a sticky ignition. the plastic blinker dealy inside the column is broken, but more important is the ignition sticks in the START position and you could start it without the key.

kind of a unique column. anybody recognize it?

    it's a tilt.

as we all know it really should be replaced with something more plain, and the dash redone, but hey.. I'm getting a couple who likes vintage European cars behind the wheel of a 1940 Ford.

I don't know about the column, but there is some sort of devil chicken above your window crank....! Scary stuff!

looks like a typical GM column from the 70s, is the lock cylinder retained by a screw? or a clip?

I don't recognize the nifty shift collar, looks custom :)

Looks a lot like a lava lamp base.

it's a a little spring loaded pop up thing that is in the lock. to get the ign out you remove all the guts and push the it in and pull it right out.

I got a picture . be right back.

here's the lock. that dark grey thing is what you push to get it out.

yeah, I recognize that. I don't remember which is which though...I think that type was used up to the mid-late 70s, then they changed to the screw retained type. But gosh, it's been 10 years since I worked on one?

guess I'll just go to the parts store and say "I need a ignition switch like this only not messed up". that's always fun. early to mid 70's GM sounds like a good place to start, I was thinking the steering column was some factory thing, maybe not.
