anyone know what this rear possibly came out of? and estimated year, it looks like it had ears on the pumpkin for trailing arms like on a monti or a cutlass.....

8.5 inch 10 bolt, came in numerous '70s/'80s G.M. cars and trucks. I don't know if the "A" cast in it means A body or not. Take the cover off and look at the ring gear; many times, along with the part number and ratio numbers, there's a build date stamped on it, like 4 72, meaning April 1972.

They are very durable. I had one in my '86 Grand National. Parts should be easy to get for it.

  6. About the equivalent of a FoMoCo 8" or a Dana 44..they hold up reasonably well on the street. With a ton of torque you might have some issues, though the small U-joints are just as likely to go. They have been known to hold up surprisingly well in certain race cars, with some work.

On the r/h axel tube should be some numbers and letters stamped in it. It is usually on the front or top about were the bracket has been added.

I think it looks like a 7.5, skinny axles, S10/15 pu. Lay a tape measure on the cover...

I think I'm seeing the 7.5 'fangs', not the square 8.5 'lugs'...
