My 54 f100 came with a tilt column and steering wheel with this horn button. I know it's gm from the key but trying to figure out what wheel I can put in my truck. Thanks glenn

Toronados were introduced in 1966? or so and continued along into the 80s at least. I can't imagine any Olds having a different steering wheel spline size or count from body to body, likely same as virtually all other GMs.
gm had the same splines on the steering shaft for a long time. I would guess from the 40's into the 90's maybe longer.
Good info. I just didn't want to order one and not have it fit. Not many old wheels kicking around to test fit
There's a late 60s Toronado wheel.. think 66-68 that has 4 spokes, looks a lot like a '60 Lincoln wheel and is just kickass looking. Is that what ya got? 4 chrome spokes on the horn ring?
Well just picked up a 65 caddy wheel at a swap meet today and the splines didn't fit. Not sure what wheel I'm going to be able to put in my truck. Are the caddys differant than other gm wheels?
Did some research and from what I found that the caddy wheels won't work. So looks like I need to find another gm style wheel
The Caddy wheel will look good hanging on your garage wall. You can NEVER have enough wheels or M/T valve covers.
You should see our wall at the shop. My buddy scraps junk cars so we get a ton of crazy stuff we stick on the wall lol
Alright now I'm confused again. I'm having the worst luck with wheels. I bought this caddy wheel from a swap meet. Was told it was a 65 which from what I've seen online it is. Then I ordered this horn button that was suppose to be for a 65. Horn button doesn't fit. Not sure which one here is a 65 but if anyone knows caddy wheels can you help me out please
Could the wheel itself be bent? It almost looks as if you were to push the center of the wheel up toward the outer ring the horn bar would fit. Another possibility could be that whomever you bought the bar from may have THOUGHT it would fit despite the fact that it was actually from an Olds 88 or something else GM made that same year, and maybe looked the same. It looks more like a 62 Caddy wheel to me, but I'm no expert. What is the casting number on the back of the horn bar?
its deft not bent. just not the right bar for the wheel. just not sure which info i have is right. maybe its not a caddy wheel? but ive looked a bunch of them up on ebay and there the same.
Never trust eBay. A seller might have, say, a widget for sale. Widget fits 53-54 only, but LOOKS like the widget for a 55-56. So, seller lists it as a 53-56. Seller "B" has the same widget to sell, looks like seller "A"s widget from a 53-54, but his came off of a 56. Seller "B" knows his widget is correct for 55-58, so he lists his, using seller "A"s widget as part of his research, as a 53-58 correct widget. The cycle goes on an and on, and before you know it, it's correct for a Prius. Try not to use eBay as a research tool, or at least don't put ALL your marbles into it. I think it looks more like a 62 Caddy wheel, myself, which would explain the difference altogether. Look at a 62 bar, and compare it to the one you have.
I did that, the 60-62 bar is a different shape and looks to have a black cover piece that is on the back of the bar. its hard to tell because the wheel itself is so similar. i deft have the 65 horn trim, so i guess my wheel must be a 60-62?
I've noticed that in many cases, Caddy included, that as the years went on (late 50s to late 60s anyway) the horn button seemed to travel closer to the wheel. At one point the steering wheel was nutted to the top of the column far from your knuckles and down by your knees. Then, slowly the nut moved closer and closer. I think you may be right on the 60-62 wheel.
either way i cant use it in my truck which sucks but i would like to know what to describe the parts i have if i want to sell them. Thanks for the info guys.
