Hey gang, I've searched high and low on the Internet as well as trying to get some information from the manufacturer and I have no luck. I picked these lamps up from a Model A old timer and he doesn't know any history on them either. I have seen a lot of amber fog lights and such but I have never seen lamps with a clear center like these. I thought maybe they were from a really old school bus or some type of public works vehicle. Heck maybe even an old wrecker. There is no date on the and the only script is shown in the pictures. It also has cloth wrapped wiring. If anyone recognizes these please chime in. Thanks Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
I was just curious what they were used for and when they came out. I've never seen them with the clear strip in the middle Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Amber is usually associated with fog lamps, and clear for driving, so this was somebody's idea of a compromise. Light em up take em out in the fog or rain and let us know how they work. Probably not really well, but then again you may be surprised. As technology evolved folks decided that lens and reflector design were more important to dealing with fog and mist than light color, but in the early days who knew. Have fun with them.
I googled "unity fog lamps 9165" and found this http://www.earlyfordv8.org/forum/printthread.cfm?Forum=14&Topic=4422 These new Unity Manufacturing "vintage" fog lamps from their website appear to be amber on sides with clear down the middle as well http://shop.unityusa.com/Vintage-Roadlights_c_94.html
