Can anyone tell me what this steering column is out of? I need to fix the turn signal lever because it broke off inside the column.

Yep and it looks like someone fastened the indicator to it.

The internal parts should be pretty much the same for GM columns with that style of dimmer switch on them.

I think that the cover over the dimmer switch on the side of the column comes off and you can reach the pivot spot of the lever there. You will have to pull the wheel and lock plate below it to get to the turn signal switch though. First you need to figure out exactly what is broken and how and then figure out what parts you need.

Thanks for the info from everyone.

    48chev,

I think the indicator was added later also. The pointer and indicator are slightly out of alignment.

Another issue with this column is it sometimes drops into low for no reason. My wife said she noticed it dropping when she would get on the gas. Anyone have any ideas about this issue?

The turn signal lever simply broke off and it is inside the column (switch housing). The levers on that column are very flimsy. I'm gonna take it apart when I get a chance and see what I need to fix it.

I'm thinking I might be better of just putting an aftermarket column in it. Any opinions on this? Is it a pretty easy process?
