Hey everyone, I'm needing some help figuring out what this car is. Make, model, year, motor. This is my graddad's car that he raced in New Mexico back in the late '40's (think that is the right time frame). Anyway, I'm looking to build a tribute type car that is as close to this one as I possibly can. I don't have many details on what I will do, just that I want to build it. First step is figuring out what I need to look for in a car and parts.

I know that if anyone can help it's the great minds here on the HAMB. Anywho, here are a couple of pics of the car in question. Thanks in advance for any info and help.

Here's a shot of him in a race alongside his brother, my granddad drove 222 and his brother was in 333.

After looking closer, I can't see the notch in the front of the firewall and the door post looks a little thinner,.... Most likely a 1933 ( of course,.. I can't be totally sure because the picture isn't the best quality)

Thanks for the quick replies! Yeah, the pic isn't the greatest, but it's enough to get me started in the right direction thanks to you. I'm guessing it's a flathead motor, at least it looks like it in the pic.

Thanks Bowie, that helps me a ton! Now the question is, how desirable are '33 5 windows? Need to prepare myself for what costs I might be looking at.

If you take a look over in the HAMB cars for sale section, Mathews garage has a 3window coupe dirt track car for real decent money.
