Need Help Locating a 47 Merc Kustom that was sold in 1957...

  1. A close friend of the family is trying to track down a Kustom he owned in the 50's.the car is a 47 Merc 2 dr that had a 51 Bel Air HT roof.the car was finished and show condition when it was sold in 1957.the body was black laquer the roof was red candy.Cad sombreros and spots with skirts.the car was sold to a dealer in Denver Colorado VIN# 799A1980780.Colorado had no record of it when he checked in 96...I know this car exists someplace..I have a pic of it,that I'm trying to scan..And its in color too..Any help would be greatly appreciated.I'm sure you would be compensated for your help...Thanks in advance Marcus...

    well use the media for this ,call up the papers around there and find the writer that does all those cheesy local stories, and lay out all the info ,hit em with a want ad also couple incher, make em feel good getting some business out of you for the effort,and see what happens,the internet now also lets you look up all the dealers and places from the past,start looking and call some real estate people from the time,it is some detective work i have used to find cars and items that i was looking for , i found a camaro i was looking for out east , it was in an old car mag, and i put the engine number to the prefix of the vin and got a hit ,dont be shy about asking in the denver area ,you might surprise your self
