If no one helps you with the font over the weekend, I'll figure it out when I go to work Monday. I own a print shop (aka my name 'ThePress') and have all the fonts you can imagine.

Let me know here or in a Private message exactly what you want, what size, etc. and I can send you an exact file....

Thanks for the help, any size should work (I can blow it up on the copier) but roughly about the size of an 11inch by 7inch piece of paper

The only typeface I could find that was close was called "Poster" on my computer, then I just curved the top a little to look more like tha number on the car.... hope this helps a little. Somebody else will probably nail it.

  8. I'm betting it's not an actual font, per se, but the sign painter's interpretation of that style of font.

Are you going to make a mask for painting the 7 on your car or are you just looking for a guideline?

Bike tank - if I could draw more than just stick figures I would just mock it up myself

  10. I understand ya - I'm no DaVinci either. Take the picture to the local Quick Sign place. They may have a font on file that'll work for you. They may even be able to manipulate something that's close to make it exactly what you want. Then they can cut the masks for you too.

Or you can contact -crap, forgot his name - zumografix or somthign like that, on here. He'll be able to set you up

    Good luck.

  11. Zumo - that's the fella!! :D HE does graphics design and some nice stuff too. Forget I mentioned the local sign place, stick with a HAMBer.

I couldn't find an exact match in about 1100 fonts here at work. Here are some close matches. If nobody else finds it, maybe I'll do one up for you later today.

To me that looks like a Segrams 7 would be a match for that 5

I might just just that one, thanks Russco!

  16. i would guess it's not an actual font...the 5 on the truck looks like the 5 on a $5 doller bill to me...too bad they don't make a $7 bill...If you can find a shot of Robert Williams' Purple and yellow 32 Roadster, I think he's got a "7" on there that might be what you're looking for....Here's the best shot I could find...I think there was a piece in one of the mags (I thought Rodder's Journal, but couldn't find it...) a few years back, that will probably have better shots...

Be careful with those "free" fonts pages. A lot of them bundle spyware crap with the fonts. You d/l a font and next thing you know, your getting like 3 pop-ups on every webpage you visit.

  21. See if you can dig up a pic of the Kenz-Leslie streamliner that ran at Bonneville back in the early 60's;their number was 777 and it is likely the style you want.Sorry I don't have a pic handy or I'd post it.

I used the Segram's -7- on my old race car and it sure looks like a match.

  24. there used to be a company that made motocross and bmx plates and numbers in the late 70's/early 80's called zeronine(0-9)the numbers looked just like the one on the pickups door.try a google search or egay.

  25. Talk about trad.

It's a variation of Bodoni Poster Black, based on type designed by Giambattista Bodoni in the mid 1700's, recut by Morris Fuller Benton in 1907, and reinterpreted as the font Bauer Bodoni by Heinrich Jost in 1926.

Um, yeah, I'm a typography geek. Sorry.

I've used that font on a lot of number plates, my son's number is 427, had it since he was 6 years old, he's 22 now. It's called ancient egyption but there's similar fonts also, just google free fonts, you'll find it.

I've got an in-house font here that should work.

Just PM me or e-mail me editor@astrocom-on.com if you still need it and I will do it tomorrow.
