Need help on my 50 ford

This old 50 shoebox has been on our place since the 70's. I decided I better get it in operation before both of us are too old. first thing I descovered is I can't unlatch the hood. The cable or hood latch is frozen. I put some serious pulling on the hood unlatch cable. I thought I had better stop before I break the cable. Any idea how I can unlatch the hood without pulling the cable? Thanks stan

It can be, kinda like a child proof container sometimes.
