Guys, I am re-wiring the 37 Nash and want to replace the wiring all the way into the headlight housings/buckets, including updating the bulbs to 12 Volt (maybe even update to sealed beam). The problem is that I can't get the light out of the bucket. The Motors Manual on page 210, says I have a #4 style light and that I should remove the screw (did that) and pull the light forward. The light is tight and wont come out. I tried pulling the trim ring off but it wont budge. I even tried getting a putty knife behind the trim ring and tapping it with a hammer. It came out a little bit but is really tight. I ***ume the trim ring needs to come out completely, right?? I dont want to damage the rings/buckets since parts for a Nash are difficult to come by. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Paul
Usually the trim ring needs to come off so the reflector/bulb ***embly can be removed from the headlight housing. The trim ring is probably rusted to the housing as most of them are. Try some penetrating oil in between the ring and housing. Let it sit for a while then try what you were doing before to remove the ring. Keep on trying the gentle persuasion.
Thanks Mike. Appreciate the info greatly!! ya cant "bang" on these off model cars, break it, then go to the store and buy another. I'll try what ya said. Paul
