Hello everyone, I cannot seem to find the right radiator cap for this style filler neck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Kind of looks like a standard neck. what kind of radiator is is and what about a regular capo dosen't fit. What was there before?
It's in my 38 Packard but it was there when I got it. Most caps hook from outside this is inside, more similar to a old style fuel cap or valve cover oil cap.
looks like it takes the early "gas cap" style radiator cap. Like, from the 1930s. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/1930-1931-Ford-Model-A-Radiator-Pressure-Cap,7794.html but this may not be the right one, maybe you could look at packard parts places?
It does look similar to the Model A radiator cap. I have checked a few sites and the packard should be a standard cap.
It most likely looks like this one on Ebay 371198209227 New cap copy and paste that number in the search. That will at least give you an idea of what you are hunting. More info here. http://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=85764 Reading that Ebay add again it looks like you are looking for an R-1 radiator cap.
Thank you everyone for all your input. I tried the R2 style cap and that did not fit. The caps diameter was not big enough to fit and lock in. I will look at the ones you referenced Mr48chev.
Did you check with Kanter's? They've been the go-to place for Packard stuff for decades. Not everything is in their catalog. They have lots of old parts as they've been buying out dealers stock and parts hordes since the 1960's.
