How is the center stainless molding between the split windshield held on? I have the new rubber that accepts all the stainless trim. But there is no leg on the center stainless trim, that gets inserted into the rubber. Am I missing a piece? Thanks for anyone's help. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I removed some from a junk yard last week. There were screws on the interior vertical split. Does that make sense?
..As best as I can recall there are 3 machine thread screws with a flat washer like part attached to them,...these washer like things fit into the groves of the outside stainless center trim and it is placed/fitted over the center rubber which should have 3 pre made holes,......on the inside the metal trim part that has 3 holes in it goes over the rubber gasket/seal (there is a 4th larger hole in this trim part make sure you put the large hole up for the inside mirrow ),...there are 3 screws I think these are called barrel head screws,...these barrel screws are threaded onto the 3 screws coming from the outside center stainless ,...you will need help to get the 3 barrel head screws started/threaded,.. you inside and some one outside putting pressure on the center trim part....there is a 4th screw that somehow is screwed at the bottom center of the rubber seal/gasket,..look close for the 4th screw if I recall correctly it is screwed from the outside and there should be a stainless part to cover it when done...I also recall that these windsheilds had to have a sealer in the groves etc or water will get in the car,......hope this helps....miller
