Can you guys help me with the repair of a 1956 power antenna? Any construction drawings, exploded views, repair help? Seems that the nylon cord is out of the antenna hanging down and the aluminum tube is off. How does that go together? Thanks so much!
The year alone is not going to help much. Most of these work roughly the same, so basic diagnosis and repair follow similar paths. The hard part is going to be replacement parts. Can you provide any identifying marks, application or other features? 6V or 12 V? Negative or positive ground? 3 wires, what colors, what kind of switch or does it trigger with the radio on/off?
The antenna is of a 1956 Oldsmobile. I t is a 12 V unit. Honestly, we Germans were sitting on trees at that time when America had power antennas and aircondition in cars.
Found these, they might help. https://forums.aaca.org/topic/107733-power-antenna-repair/ and this which is deeper https://forums.aaca.org/topic/277951-1956-power-antenna-motor-and-mast-interchange/ I hope they help, I know getting old German stuff here isn't easy. I can imagine how hard it is to get old American stuff there.
