I have on original 34 ford sedan ch***is. I want to take the banjo rear out and swap an 8" Ford in. The original spring and crossmember are in excellent shape and I would like to use it. Can I simply use the normal rear spring perches and just **** them at the appropriate angle to match the curved spring and weld them on the axle? I haven't been able to locate a weld on perch kit that is designed for a curved rear spring. It's either that or I'm going cut it out and go with coilovers.
If they are the correct length, sure you can. Gotta be somebody that makes them. Even if you need to cut them yourself, it would be a lot less work than replacing the whole crossmember.
That's what I was thinking. It would be a real time saver and cheaper. I'm just surprised no one makes them. Everything I've found says "Will Not Work With Original Spring and Crossmember"
So 8” fords came with two different tube diameters. If you have the smaller and you ordered spring behind hangers from Pete and Jakes for the bigger size you could easily tilt them to the correct angle and weld them up.
