Hey guys I am working up to a body off restore of my 51 ford fordoor. I had posted a similar question but didn't get what I was looking for. Did my own research and I am still empty handed. Green bible does not give me what I need either What I want to do is take the front end body pieces off the car so I can get to the engine/ tranny/ suspension ect. a little easier. I would like to take the front end of the body off as a whole not in pieces. Does anyone have pic's of their restore and can show me where the bolts are to take this off in one shot I have a good idea where the fender bolts mount before the front doors, but do I need to unbolt anything from the inner fenders? Is it just the fender bolts and the bolts on the front of the frame that I need to remove?
Wow. If you plan a Body Off restoration and this has you stumped get ready for many many more issues. To try and help with your question and being I own some of my own, here is what I know. The inner fenders can stay with the unit if you remove the fasteners along the firewall and the fresh air duct hose clamps. There is 1 bolt dead center below the rad that holds the core support to the frame. You also need to remove the bumper before lifting it off in one piece. If you look closely you will see 2 sheet metal screws into the firewall outside the body mount brace. Also the deflector outside the cowell firewall has 2 screws in it you need to remove, then the ones down the body mount. Good luck The Wizzard
It’s not that it has me stumped so much it's just that car is in bad shape everything’s dirty and rusty. And I just wanted to pin point everything before I did more work then I had too or damaged something. Like I said I looked everywhere and got nothing, own the green bible, did a search here and on shoebox ford, nothing, asked a question and got smartass remarks and nothing answered. And it's snowing here today and I have no garage, do you want to be outside tiring to figure out how to get a front end apart on your first build. I sure as hell don't. haha thanks for the great info and fast answer
