I am trying to get my 67 chevy saginaw 3 speed borg warner OD to work. I understand the system pretty much as well as the next guy.

It freewheels fine and the push pull lever works as it should. I have tested the solenoid and govenor outside the truck and they work properly. I have also tested the system without the govenor by just grounding that wire.

The relay and kickdown switch are new, but I have also tested the system by going around them so they are not in the system.

It appears to me, that the blocker ring is interfering with the solenoid plunger engauging the sprocket. I have tried the fix the book recommends 3 times without success. (with OD locked out, rotate driveshaft one revolution, then loosen solenoid bolts and pull solenoid out and turn driveshaft 1/8th turn and reassemble). Could there be something else wrong?

Can anyone suggest some other things to try?

    Hi...some questions.
What actually does the tranny do or not do ?
When installing the solenoid into the tranny are you able to install the solenoid without turning the solenoid a 1/4 turn ? or does it push right straight into the tranny ?

The tranny drives fine when out of OD and freewheels when the dash handle is pushed in, Just no 30% stepdown.

I installed the solenoid with the quarter turn to fit the ball into the slot.
The solenoid is the oddball 1 1/2 inch stroke truck/convertible type.

I tested the solenoid on the bench and it snaps out correctly when juice is applied to the main terminal.
