I have a 41 sedan all original the transmission is missing parts and it’s currently got the 216. I’m wanting to swap in a 235, what do I need to look for transmission wise? Not even sure what to tell folks I’m looking for. I’d like to stay fairly close to original. Thanks

Bell housing from 1950 216 bolted right up to a 235, not sure how different the 1941 is

Yes a 235 will bolt up to the 216 bell and trans. But what’s your main transmission issue?

Sorry I should have been more clear the transmission has been taken apart and most likely needs rebuilt I was just looking at transmission options.

Chevy car transmissions had the same small trans to bellhousing through 54. They changed to the Muncie pattern in 55.
A 235 up through 62 or a 261 will bolt right up to the bellhousing that you have.
48 and later Muncie pattern truck bellhousings won't work in a car.
Then if you were to swap to a muncie pattern 55 or later trans you would have to swap rear axles and have a drive shaft built.

A '49-'54 car transmission would have the same bolt pattern, but have a normal side cover with two equal sized shift arms, as opposed to the "selector" setup of the stock transmission. I'm not sure if the overall length is the same, though. 1948-54 truck three speeds had the more common 1955 and later style Chevy bolt pattern that would match up to a '55-'62 235 bell housing, but they lack the boss for the rear transmission mount.
