I have a 1969 Toronado with a 455. Engine is very fresh and it was recently running fine. Yesterday it stopped getting fuel. I could pour fuel into the carburetor and it would run for a moment or two so I decided to check the fuel pump. Took the line for the tank loose and subs***uted a line coming from a bottle of gas. Started right up and drained the bottle so the pump is working fine. I then disconnected the line as it goes into the gas tank and blew through front to rear and rear to front with my compressor. It was clear. All of the fuel lines are brand-new and in great shape since the motor is fresh. I went ahead and did that at the same time. I connected the line back to the tank and blew air down the line and was able to hear loud gurgling down in the tank. I disconnected the line from the tank put on another line connected to a hand vacuum pump and was able to draw 25lb vacuum that just held and held with no gas coming out. I put a line back on the tank and blew it again and could hear loud gurgling with the air going into the tank. So air goes in and no fuel comes out? Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

  2. i'd say something in the fuel tank is acting like a one way check valve......maybe some crud or a piece of tank liner? time to pull the tank and clean it out
