well guys, this is my story, after many years in and around customs hot rods etc etc,me and some friends have decided to start a car club named lords just lords,iv'e searched and searched and haven't seen any car club with just lords, even searched car club plaques. I'm not writing this thread to lay claim on the name,just want to make sure we don't step on anybody's toe's, plus where does someone go to lay claim on there club name and what does someone do if somebody tries to start a club with your club name that already exist.just want to do it right, that why I'm writing it on the hamb.
There's a Lordz. Try again dude, sorry. It's tough but it'll come to you soon. As for staking claim, you can copyright it but no one ever does. Just do exactly what you're doing. You're doing a good job at finding out if anyone else has it, then stake your claim by simply using it. Then the next time someone thinks it up, they'll find your club already has it.
there are always clubs out there you dont hear about with a similar name. Just choose a name and make sure to get your matching jackets, T shirts and hats so you all feel like a part of each other and people recognize you are part of a club. Ha ha ha ha ha Does it really matter if someone else has the same name? Jeez. Its not like its the HAMB! its a car club for goodness sake. And with a club will come people who feel they need to be in charge and then you get a heirarchy or only a handful of people who will actually DO the work you need for the club. Why not just all go places together and be a NON club?
is there a place listing various club names other than searching through 2500 car club plaques on websites? I've ran into a couple instances of The Detonators name being used before (one was an old group from somewhere on the west coast that someone's dad used to belong to, and the other was a band from like Oregon or something...)...We don't have any affiliations with previous groups with our name, but I wouldn't mind finding people in another group with the same name...never know, they might have a killer logo that we could use as our local chapter over here...

I knew of the Lordz the business, but not the Lordz car club, plus he is spelling it with an "s". There are alot of overlaps on car clubs names....no biggie unless its both with the same name in the same area. If its halfway across the country it shouldn't matter. If you have the Linc that was in the mag, I love it. Im sure it is the same one...
Treat it like naming your kid. If you wanted to name your kid "John," you wouldn't abandon the name just because somebody else had named their kid John, would you? Nobody owns the language...

The Col. is pretty much right on track. Just hang your patch on and hope nobody kicks your ass. BTW that's pretty much the way that you keep someone from stealing your name also. Now on a lighter note I'm gonna guess that most of the good names are taken so unless there are some in your area or it is a nationally recognized name like Them or the Pharos or something you're gonna be alright. How about "not the lords", I'll bet no one is useing that one yet. I was gonna start one called the Knuckle Draggers but I was afraid someone would mistake it for the Knuckle Busters and I like some of those guys. Well that and I don't know anyone that wants to be in a club that isn't already in a club.
you know we tried the starting up an old name bit but it always came down to someone or somebody starting the old club up again someday.for those of you who know me and the friends i hang around with know we love and live around cars and are not the plexi glass, black primer, rattle can red rim kind of guys, i can say that cause my car is all metal lol, lords with an s of course ,100$ for the name is not bad if it were true plus after the 4t64rd list i'm convinced all the good names are taken lol.
I see you already know about the Road Lords. At least your avatar shows up on other places so I presume it's you. Anyway many old clubs had the same name "back in the day" and some were associated with other clubs around the country and some were not. Just use the name and have a unique logo along with it.
Just the name "LORDS"? Should be more car related, in some fashion. Like the Lowerds. Or like the Danville Dukes. The next big thing is a kool logo, and getting plaques, jackets, etc. None of this is cheap or easy.
