I know you guys can be very cynical but here goes....my neighbor bought a nice stock '28 Model A Tudor Sedan and all he wants is the sheetmetal. The frame looks nice, motor was rebuilt and runs. Drivetrain, steering, trans, rear axle, springs, tires, wheels etc. He wants to sell the entire package all assembled but does not know what a fair market price would be. So, please give me some guidance? He does not want to give up the Wisconsin title. Kermit....remember, the family that plays together....stays together.
Well, it all depends on what "rebuilt" means, what wheels are on it, condition of tires & brakes. Without seeing photos my guess would be $750.00, the tin is were the value is.
A couple years ago a guy I worked with picked up a running, driving 5 winder coupe, completely original in every way. He'd told me about how he was gonna "build it traditional, with a flatty, 4 speed, red wheels, etc." I was overjoyed. Then he sold the entire thing, minus the sheetmetal, for $1200, to buy a mustang II front ended aftermarket frame with a 9". At least he went with a 302 C4 though. Oh well. I know people are getting at least $1200 is the point of the story. jay
$1500 tops if everything is nice and shiny. Frame's worth $100-$150, front axle $75 or so, wheels about $10 each. Trans might be worth $100, rear the same. Etc. Figure accordningly. I got a chassis with a front axle from what had been a running, restored car, for free - he wanted it out of his yard, last summer. Came with steering, a decent hood, bumpers, basically everything but the tin, engine, trans, rearend, and springs. Came with two wheels too, and the best I could do on the nice one with the good tire was 5 bucks from some clown at a car show. (I'll never try to sell at the all-Ford show again).
