Need help with my Model A windshield.....

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by flyin'eye, Apr 3, 2004.

  1. What has to be done to get the glass out of a 30-31 windshield frame? I know that the top of the frame comes off, but that's where my knowledge ends. I pulled the screws out, cant get it apart. Is there a trick I need to know about, or do I just need to force it?

Sounds like it's been glued together.

  3. So what does a guy do? Bust the rest of the glass out of it and force it apart?

  4. it's either rusted or glued together like he said.. have you tried any PB blaster on it? they can be a bitch to take apart if they have been together for 70+ years

  5. mine had no glass in it and wasn't rusty and i still had to hammer it apart. they are a real bitch. make sure you got all the 6 screws before you go smacking on it.... david

I've never been able to get one apart without busting the glass out first. Then oil the piss out of the ends, remove the 6 bolts, and use a rubber mallet to carefully break it apart. Good luck

I clamp them down on a table, use a short 2X4 and a BFH. And always grind the inserts down before reassembly.....OLDBEET
