Im building my '54 210 sedan. When I got the car it had a 261 and the original running gear (non sychro'd 3 speed on the floor and the torque tube axle). I ran the casting numbers on the block and it is a 1961. Im trying to upgrade to a T-5 trans and an open rear end. So I have done my research. I went with a Buffalo Enterprises adapter. A T-5 out of a '90 S-10. Here is where my problem is. I got a new 10" clutch and a S-10 disc. Had my pressure plate resurfaced, and now with the everything bolted in. The clutch will not engage. There is about 1/2" of play on the throwout bearing. The clutch pedal goes all the way the the floor. I have read many posts on this subject, I just dont know where I messed up at. Can anyone help me? Thanks

You'll get your info faster if you title your post stating what you need help with.

Instead of making us think a HAMBer is broken down on the side of the road and really needs help ASAP.

"The clutch won't engage"....!/2" free play....do you mean the clutch won't DISengage, as in release? If so, you may need a thicker throwout bearing. There are several different sizes.

So can you put it in gear and release the clutch and nothing happens? Or is it that you push the clutch all the way in and can not shift into gear?

The throwout bearing slides on the input shaft, but never touches the pressure plate.

You should be using the tall throwout bearing, it should be the same as would have been on the car originally.
Theres some pics on this page, hope it helps.

if you already have the tall bearing you need to make sure you have it hooked up right. My 54 has a couple of notches that may be used by mistake. Cesar
