Projects Need help with steering box

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1931fordtruck, Nov 8, 2013.

  1. I pulled this steering box off of a '46 ford truck frame. The way it was mounted tells me its not original to the frame. Anyone have any ideas on the make?

Looks like a 60's GM box. I have a Saginaw like that off a 62 Impala.

  4. I would assume they did drive it like that. Not safe at all!

Saginaw Model 525? My old 73 Nova had one just like that if I recall.

  6. I agree looks like a 525 Saginaw. That must be welded on the pitman arm ,but it is still not safe

  7. Looks scary and the guy that drove it can be considered lucky. HRP

  8. What year(s) did gm use the 525 and on what models?

The S is for Saginaw. 64-72 Chevelles & GM Clones, 68-74 Nova's, S-10's and Yes they were even used on Ford F-100' & E-100 in the early 80's.

  10. Thank you guys for the info.
