Hey guys, I have a 57 fairlane with a bum trans. Not the original trans for the car either. I want to replace it with a t85 and o/d. However a potential 3spd replacement showed up on Facebook about 20 minutes from me. Maybe not my right trans but more of the right-now trans until I get all the pieces.

I’m going to include a pic of the trans in my car, and the trans that is for sale. I’m a wicked virgin with fords and their parts do maybe one of you kind folk might be able to school me on what I have in front of me. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Unless you have a lot of power or your current three speed has problems , you are not going to accomplish a lot changing those transmissions.

  4. If the price is right on the late 3 speed, buy it; those are very nearly indestructible...

Is there a difference between the 303 series and the 'lighter' top loader 3 speed?
I read somewhere the Jeep top loader tower/stick won't fit the larger 303.

If not, where is the difference? Main drive length should be the same, within the case length?
