I have a complete shell for a 1933 Chevy Master Eagle, it has very minimal rust and no structural damage at all. But I have one major problem with it I have not been able to find a frame for it . Does any one have any idea of what I might be able to do, some one told me that I could use a frame from a Chevy S10, is that true??????????
Pick up some 2x3" box steel and make it whatever size you want. Then get a hold of a front clip, either an S-10, or an 80's Toyota pickup was narrower by a few inches.
I may have a couple original frames at my families place. Depending on what your plans are for the car I'd say OG frame is the best bet.
If adding modern suspension is your goal I would still start with an original frame to base everything off of. It will save alot of headaches if your working with a shell.
The 80's Toyota truck frame might be your best bet.I think it would be a better fit than a S-10 frame.I have used a toyota frame for a 40 Willys pickup.... Steve
I plan on useing modern suspension on it, so if i could find an oiginal frame that would be geat, but if not I will have to impovise.
PM contact info to me and when I'm out at my families place next I'll shoot some pictures and get you a price. I also have a toyota subframe and rear(a couple rears) already at my house from another project.
Well thats a great idea except I am not to handy or maybe i should say comfortable enough with my welding skills as to be able to weld me a frame together.
This would be a good time to hone your welding skills on this project. Just takes a little patients and it will come to you faster than you think. Getting the heat range adjusted to the right amps is a big part of welding and a few scraps of metal will help you get it right before doing the frame.
Yes it is a Fisher Body, I would have to say that maybe about 80% of the wood is still in it, and the pieces are still in great shape so much so that they could be used as a templet
You bring up a very valid point, practice does increase the skill. I think I just have this fear of driving down the road and the frame falling apart.
www.progressiveautomotive.com Place to start if your looking for a new one. I would be iffy on doing a frame if your welding skills are not up to par. Safer than sorry. I did a google for 1933 chevy frame.
Ken, Thanks so much for the info, I just went and checked out that site. I guess I will be saving my pennies for a little while longer by the looks of there prices. I really appreciate all the great advice you all have been giving me.
Thanks for the info I will have to check out Outlaw Performance to see if they can help and if i would have to give them my first born or not...
