need info from Tri-fivers

Hello to all, I am restoring a 55 Chevy Belair HDTP and need some info on installing new gl*** in doors and rear quarter windows. I bought the new rubber channels from Danchuck.
Here's my dilemma, I am using an old restoration book by Harold Louisiana from Cl***ic Chevy International, now Eckler's. In the book it says to "oil the rubber before installing in the metal channels" It helps to swell the rubber and get a good tight fit. Being as the book was printed in the 60's I think, I am not sure the rubbers of today require that treatment. I have called Danchuck, Ecklers, Cl***ic Industries and nobody has offered any response nor do any of them have a tutorial on gl*** installation for hardtops that I can download. Ecklers tech did say I could spray some Armour-all on it if I wanted to,,??? what?
Anybody here got some suggestions?

 

I use Dawn dish washing soap,works like a charm !!
