A friend of mine gave me a 235 Chevy six to get it out of his way. It turns out his dad was into building six bangers and had left him a '58 Apache with a 261 in it, and had left a lot of parts from old projects. He asked if I also wanted an old manifold that had been lying around the shop for years. He said he had no idea what it is for. It is an aluminum McGurk set up for two carbs (he said the carbs had disappeared a long time ago). I did a search for McGurk on the net and found a lot of info, but still don't know anything about this manifold. It is identical to the one in this picture. Can anyone give me any info about what it fits etc.?
That should fit. Even if it won't, it'll look better hanging on your wall than his. It should take two stock carbs. Just buy another one, just like the one on your 235. Dean
Wow thats very cool I have a 3 1 for 235 they are hard find in any way. From what I understand from the six cyl. guys up here. Ed Isky sold the Mc Gurk molds to a guy and he will be making parts again even valve covers from the orig. molds. I not sure when the stuff will be available but I soon as I find out I will post something. They guy that got the molds has connections up here....Danny
That's the newly re-started Wayne Mfg. Co. Run a search for "Wayne" from the last two weeks on here, or go to inliners.org, for contact info.
A few years back, at the NSRA Nats North swap meet in Kalamazoo, I was on my way to get a corn dog, when an old man and his wife passed me in their '36 Ford 2-dr. sedan, and backed into a swap meet space. I stopped and watched as he started unloading parts from the trunk and putting them on a blanket to sell. He pulled out an aluminum intake, and I waited for him to set it down before I picked it up to check it out. I asked him how much, he said he needed $25,...normally, I would have offered less, but it was a McGurk 6x2 for a small block Chevy! I paid him, and took off to get my corn dog!
Thanks for the help guys! I was hoping it would fit the 235. I appreciate the tip on the Wayne Company Kinky6.
