I'm building my 30 A roadster using all parts from the late 40's era. I've got most everything gathered up. I'm using a set of block letter Sharp aluminum heads. I have a 3 carb Sharp intake, but it has the script writing. Did the Sharp intake ever have the block lettering? When did Sharp change from the block letters to the script letters? I've seen alot of posts recently on the early speed parts - it's always neat to see the early advertisements and such. If my intake is a later (50's) version, I may just use my Thickstun high rise. If possible I would like to match the heads and intake. Thanks for the help.
This is a 1947 Sharp catalog/flier. Block letters on the intake. I have the same block letter heads that the flier says is new in 1947. My triplet intake is a later 8BA intake with script lettering. I don't know when the lettering changed.
Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I'm in the market for an early Sharp intake. My Sharp triple has the script lettering, so must be mid-50's and newer? My parts pile for the build includes: 30 A full fendered roadster 32 heavy axle 49 F1 steering & shock mounts 32 K member Halibrand Culver City V8 QC w/ '35 tubes 3/8 X 3/8 flatty with previously mentioned Sharp heads 47 pickup tranny w/ 41 Zephyr gears & 39 shifter 16" solids all the way around Now it's time to start assembling the puzzle.
