i always liked a stock 58 grille but that looks pretty good definitly needs something to fill up the extra space though

Ahhhh as beautiful as the car is, I think that grille is WAY too busy. Besides, the bars run the same way as the bumper and it's all too horizontal..........the floaters are too big and the bumper is too big. It's just REALLY overwhelming.

Here's a few examples.....most grilles are simple so they don't conflict with that BIG ass bumper...........the green Impala is local.:D I think the simple part is prolly why tube grilles are so popular....funny thing is, in real life, I've only seen one with a tube grille.

    DO IT!

    It will look great!

Just be very concerned with lining the new turn signals up so they are directly below the centerpoint of the two headlights, and black out everything behind the grillbars.

The front end doesn't V enough for that grille. The 3 lumps on top run at a funny angle...

I hate being negative about other people's ideas, but I'm just not diggin' it. And I only bring it up because I love the build so far, and I think your car is going to be kick ass.

I think that the split bumpers leads you eyes to the center of the grille opening and center of the hood. And there is nothing there to justify it. I've looked at it over and over again and have come to the same conclussion.

I think something like the floating bar that Brandy posted works better. Peaks in the center and flows to the outside, towards the headlights.

Again, it's your car so do it the way you like it. Just my .02 cents.

    Here's a pic of our Shine-O-Matic with a '60 Olds grille.

hey - that's what I asked for!! - I like to hear your opinion - normaly I'm sure what to do,but this time there is a doubt - think I will do some other stuff with the gril -- the olds gril is killer!! -- my absolut favorit gril would be out of a 58 buick
    [IMG]
but that one is too expensive -- first to get one - second to chrome it
    --
otherwise I have a gril from a 53 ford - but on this I have to weld it together without the bullet and I have to chrome it again -- and this is about 600.- brrr
    looks like this

Personally, I think your two grille bars will look great - concur with earlier post cautioning you to center the parking light openings between h/lights. Nice thing about '58 Impalas...there's room to do whatever you like in there...grille-wise of course....

    Looks cool, Rainer.
Like Lobster says, just need something paint in black behind, like a mesh panel, or something like this...

I agree with brandy I think the grill should be going vertical maby some tooth action I know this is pretty common... or maby a v shape like the 50 caddys

  20. I feel the grille you are proposing will be good lookin with the area behind blacked out- I like it.
If it were one solid floater bar, it would not work but the half and half split makes it your own- DO IT.

  21. I like it, but hey its your car do with it as you please.
