Hey all, wondering what brand and where you, that are running headers on your flatheads, got them from and what you paid...

I see Red's Headers obviously, but also saw some on The Hot Rod Company's website...

    There's a $50 difference between the two...Red's = $185, and The Hot Rod Compay's = $135 for a set.

I want to run 2" exhaust and Red's exit at 1 3/4 inches...but if I get plain steel, regardless of where, I can have them flanged out to 2" at a muff shop I'm sure.

    ...looking for opinions. :)

    Thanks.

Red's Headers have an excellent reputation. Do a search on the main board and see what I mean.

Cast iron Fenton headers are also a great choice. I had them on a '41 Ford pickup with a 59AB in it many years ago and I loved 'em.

You'll want to run 1 3/4" exhaust on your flathead, not 2". The smaller size is plenty big for performance and will make the exhaust sound "right". Two inch decreases performance slightly and makes the exhaust sound "funny". You'll loose a lot of that neat flathead "burble".

Again, do a main board search on flathead exhaust pipe size and read the threads to get a feel for what I'm talking about.

I'd highly recommend Porter mufflers, too. They make a flathead sound perfect, and Porter is a HAMB vendor and gives a HAMB discount as well.

    :)

i run fenton cast iron headers. love them!!! little more pricey but worth it to me. got them from Patricks in AZ and are great guys to work with. wwwpatricksantiquecars.com good source for other parts as well.

IMO: I would not buy the head pipes, pre cast pipe from header to muffler. I did and they would not clear either side without some bending. muffler shop just made exhaust from header back much quicker. would have saved me $100 had i known
