Not the same, but the same concept:

I hated these oval holes for many years, but finally came up with a clean alternative.

The 392 in my 51 just poked out of the top of the hood. A scoop from a 52 Mercury’s hood was the solution. I spent several years thinking about what to do to hide those air cleaners, and lived with those two oval holes until the idea hit me.

For your 32, you might start with just a hole in each side of the hood, and keep thinking and looking for solutions. A tightly fitted hole in the hood sides and body colored valve covers might be a good starting place until you discover the solution you like. Weren’t there some high performance Mercury Comets in the 60s with some hood scoops that might be discrete enough to work on the hood sides?

A quick solution may not be the best one. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and hot rods are never finished.

I appreciate the constructive feedback guys.

    I have a 5w with a 62 L79 engine in it currently.

the car is what you would expect a highschool kid in 62/3 to have built.

it’s full fendered, full hood ect.

it’s a great running car and drives wonderfully but I have plans to do a tribute car in the future and that’s where the 392 comes in

it’s not just a 392, it’s a letter car motor. If you don’t know what that means give it a Google.

However what that means for me is it’s the holy grail of hemis in my world.

I don’t care about most hemis more than any other vintage engine but the rarity and pedigree of this one in particular matters to me.

so yes I like the raw power of it.

but even more I like the cool factor + the raw power of it.

that said the second iteration of this car will have a very specific paint job that requires a full hood.
Plus I just like full hoods…

so the conclusion I have come to in this thread is that a half hood is not an option for me, neither is a blister or a cutout so looks like I’ll be running this 331 I have that’s from an old Alexander Bros custom.

which has plenty of cool factor too.

anyways, thanks for all the feed back and pictures guys. It solidified for me that a Chrysler hemi isnt going to allow me to do what I want to do.

I really dig what you are trying to do, and the 392 letter hemi is an awesome thing to have for it!
But it's kinda like stuffing a pair of 38 D's into a 36 C bra. Something is going to bulge out somewhere. You might be best off to scratch the hood sides
